Confirmation Classes
Confirmation classes are provided for grades 7 and 8 youth who are preparing to affirm their baptism into Jesus Christ and to enter into the greater participation in the life of the church. It is a two year program.
Sunday Church School
The Sunday Church School provides instruction from Grades 1 to 6. Each Sunday morning opening devotions are held at the Children's Altar. At this time children learn the meaning of Christian community by sharing songs and discussing special events in the Church calendar. The devotions are for all of Trinity's youth from pre-Kindergarten through to the Confirmation class. The areas of learning reflect the Bible, Doctrine, Faith and Life as related to home and community. We also have special activities or celebrations at such times as Thanksgiving, Hallowe'en, Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter. It is our hope that we will provide an environment where children will learn more about Jesus and his teachings.
Bible Study
There is a constant need for Christians to read and study the Bible. A Bible study group gathers on Tuesday mornings (except during summer months) to discuss the Bible and understand how the Lord's message relates to our lives.
Prayer
Trinity has a prayer chain which prays in response to requests from members within and outside the congregation as the need arises.
Trinity Youth Group
This organization provides fellowship and fun for youth aged 12-18. Through special events, recreational activities, youth services and occasional community work, our young people keep growing in faith and Christian duty by developing a sense of community.
Nursery
The nursery is provided by volunteers who willingly give of their time Sunday mornings for children up to three years of age. The nursery is available downstairs.
Evangelical Lutheran Women
The ELW is a community of women which recognizes the authority of scripture and whose purpose is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through its own programs and those of the ELCIC. The ELW, as a member of this national auxiliary, carries out this purpose through the monthly meetings and programs and through involvement with other ELW groups at conferences, synodical and national events. They strive to minister to the church with a visiting program to sick and shut-in members, a prayer chain, sending cards for special occasions and hosting congregational events. They are also involved in the wider community through projects for CLWR, MESH display and being involved in various community endeavours. All women are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Service and Outreach
Luther states: "the motive of a Christian is gratitude to God and the joy of following Christ in service to our neighbour. Faith and love then fulfill the great Commandment." This is at the heart of the service and outreach group who devote themselves to a loving service of persons in the congregation with special needs. Visitations to those who are ailing or shut in, in homes or in hospitals are made regularly or as the need arises, keeping them in tough with the church and its ministry. The role of service and outreach is to extend Christian compassion and helpfulness to the ill, the aged, and to all persons in need of aid in body or soul.
Coffee Fellowship
Luther said: "The mutual conversation between believers is sacramental." Every Sunday following the worship service members of the congregation dedicate their time to hosting a coffee hour which strengthens fellowship and stimulates meaningful relationships amongst the congregation in a pleasant and `aromatic' environment.
Connections
Through this program volunteers visit our sick and shut-ins on a regular basis. Visitees are people who have an established connection with Trinity which they wish to maintain but who do not or can not regularly come to church on Sundays. The goal of our visits is to demonstrate our love and concern for the visitee and to help them feel a kinship with the community of worshipers at Trinity. Visitees are assigned a primary visitor who is responsible for seeing that the visitee is visited. Visits enable an ongoing and continuing connection between all members of Trinity.
